Journalists : The Key of Development

Development is concerned with some fundamental change. It is a change from one kind of social relations to another. It could be from a colonial to an independent national existence, from a capitalist to a socialist society, from a socialist to a communist society or even just moving from an industrial to a post industrial society.
Such development can follow unregulated natural laws of social change. It can also be brought about by a conscious political decision. The process of development that telescopes change or social transformation in a much shorter space of time than if it were left to unplanned historical growth. Such telescoping demand the simultaneous development of diverse elements or components involved in the process of social transformation such as political & economic structures, social, educational and cultural structures alongside the industrial, scientific and technological revolution fused into a single process of development.
In such a process of development the focus has to be human being as both the object and subject of social transformation. The increased and highly diversified pace of development often tends to trigger violent social and political upheavals which tends to tear apart society which is trying to integrate itself out of a highly stratified diverse and fragmented polity. In this situation the urgent need is for a structure and mechanism which enables speedy dissemination of information and provides a feedback system on the fast changing felt needs and moods of the people.
The journalists as a mediator between the social system and its different components and particularly the people, can no longer remain an extension of the ruling classes hovering round in the corridors of power. He has to become part of the life of the ordinary people. The degree of such involvement would depend on the level of his social consciousness as part of either the ruling classes or the forces of more radical social transformation. The fact is that the activist and participatory role of the journalist is today a key component of development and change
The social impact of the journalist in development, diversity and change the intensity of the impact can be measured his understanding, concern and involvement in practice with society, its needs and interests as expressed by its different components and the manner in which he is able to present the objective social reality to stimulate action for a change at different levels.

Journalists are the keys of development or in other words we can say that they are the backbone of development. They are the only source to report what new is happening all-around, what new inventions and discoveries are made. Journalists only gives us the prior and free information about any of things. They are known as part and parcel of ‘Jounalism’.
